As the thick of summer approaches, Jeffrey Silverstein is taking his atmospheric soundscapes on the road, announcing a slew of shows on the West Coast throughout the month of August. The Portland-based musician officially kicks off his new tour with a free show presented by Driftless Recordings on Friday, August 2 at top-flight music venue and boutique hotel Gold-Diggers in East Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Silverstein, who is also a part of the bicoastal duo Nassau, has been treading around various indie scenes for the better portion of this decade. His latest EP, How On Earth (2019), is a hush set of ambient folk songs largely written during an artist residency at the Sou’wester Lodge on the coast of Washington last year.
“I was still undecided whether or not I wanted to sing or just to make an instrumental record, but I realized that would be me shying away from something I want to work on and figure out,” Silverstein told Riffs & Rhymes in an interview earlier this year. “It’s been a huge goal of mine to get out in front of people with my own songs.”
The gig will also feature performances from Los Angeles-based ensemble Sonoda and DJ Nicky Devine. Sonoda, the full band realization of Lisa Sonoda’s bedroom project, last released a full length project in 2018, with the dreamy Karaoke Life.
In light of his upcoming tour, we linked up with Jeffrey to share his hand-curated playlist of songs inspired by life on the road. Stream “West Coast Run” below and support Jeffrey’s music on Bandcamp.
