Today marks the 74th birthday of esteemed poet, punk-rocker, and bohemian icon Patti Smith. To celebrate the occasion, we’re sharing a stream of Smith’s set at the annual Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland in 2005. With a backing band that includes longtime collaborators Lenny Kaye and Jay Dee Daughtery, the performance includes a mix of Smith’s cutting edge ’70s material, an eclectic Bob Dylan cover, and other Trampin’-era deep cuts.
